The infamous wind buffeting effects when you drive with the windows down can be a mood killer when you’re trying to enjoy some fresh air. This issue can be observed immediately when you lower the windows at any reasonable speed. The buffeting can be unbearable in the car and when you are forced to keep your windows down during a track day, this can be quite the annoyance.
We developed a solution that not only alleviates the wind buffeting but looks spectacular as well. Our wind deflectors attach easily with 3M VHB Double-Sided Tape. The units are produced from multiple pieces of pre-preg carbon that are bonded together and then clear coated in an automotive high gloss finish.
During the development phase, we used scan data obtained in-house on our shop car to ensure proper contouring of the units to the side mirror bases. We also utilized CFD to ensure the units would work as intended but also did not cause unnecessary drag and disruption to other aerodynamic devices.
